Woolworths is expanding into the wellness sector by offering telehealth consultations through its Healthylife platform, allowing Australians to connect with GPs and health professionals remotely. While some critics, like Dr. Nicole Higgins, argue the move capitalises on healthcare for profit, retail analyst and Founder of RetailOasis Steve Kulmar believes it’s part of a strategic plan for Woolworths to eventually introduce pharmacies in-store. The service offers consultations for a variety of services, with fees ranging from $25 for medical certificates to $115 for dietitian services. However, patients will not be eligible for Medicare rebates. Woolworths asserts that the service is not intended to replace regular GPs but provide a convenient alternative for those unable to access their usual healthcare providers.
