Join us in NYC, Paris + London in January 2020

Every year, or at least for the last 6 years, we’ve headed to NYC for the National Retail Federation ‘Big Show’ and on to then explore the latest retail concepts with the people who have created them (aka the retailers). Why not, given NYC is a hot spot for the latest retail concepts + trends.  In past years we’ve spoken to retailers like Restoration Hardware, Nordstrom, Outdoor Voices, Etsy, Murray’s Cheese, Adidas, West Elm, Gentle Monster, The Real Real and more. This year we’re supercharging it up a little and adding on London and Paris to the tour. Making it an intensive 2 weeks of seeing the latest in retail. Expect to be challenged, to learn not just from the concept you see but your retailer peers on tour, and inspired by what’s possible.

What’s the Plan?

This years trips is in 2 parts! You can join us just for NYC or do the full loop across the pond. The full tour will run from the 12th – 26th of January. That said we always recommend arriving in NYC 2 days earlier so you can adjust to the time and be fresh to go.

PART 1: NYC + NRF BIG SHOW

January 12th – 17th

We spend the first part of the tour at the National Retail Federations ‘Big Show’. Over 3 days you’ll be exposed to presentations from Nordstrom, Kroger, Warby Parker, Allbirds, Neiman Marcus, Alibaba…it’s the best of the best from mass retail through to pure play niche. Following on from these 3 days we hit the streets and move the experience from theoretical to experiential. For the next 2.5 days we’ll visit the latest concepts (Nordstrom Local, Hudson Yards, Equinox Hotel etc) and talk to the retailers about their thinking behind these moves. It’s the perfect opportunity to ask questions. Every second night, we’ll come together as a group and share what we’ve learnt over a nice meal and a great glass of red. Making it a great place to learn and ‘network’.

PART 2: PARIS + LONDON

January 18th – 26th

We then head over the pond to the ‘City of Love’ to start – Paris. One of our favourite places to be totally inspired by the emotion that’s possible through retail experience. We will visit our best of the best including the iconic Le Bon Marche and BHV as well as get exposed to their retail start-up scene with brands like Sezane. We’ll then hop on the Eurostar and head to London. To finish up our tour in the land of shopkeepers. We’ll be visiting brands like Made.com, Selfridges, Stella McCartney, Dover Street Market, Browns/ Far Fetch and lots more….with retail tours yet to be announced. This will round out our tour, filling you with a years worth of inspiration!

WE HAVE 3 SPOTS LEFT, IF YOU’RE KEEN…

You can join us just for the NRF, for the NRF + NYC or for the whole tour. We like to keep the group to 12 people max so that we can meet, talk and share ideas without it being too intimidating or feeling like a stranger. It’s also worth noting this is not another ‘Westfield Study Tour’, we believe in balance and so everything we plan is so that you don’t burn out over the 2 weeks. We take time to enjoy ourselves as we travel, whether that’s having a drink at the end of the day, dinner as group or ensuring that you have enough time to adjust at each stop of the tour.

This tour will sell out, we have 3 spots left. So if this sounds like your cup of tea, complete the below and we’ll send you  pricing + booking information…

SOME NICE WORDS…

NRF Big Show 2019 was my first time at the conference and in New York so having the expert guidance of Retail Oasis made a huge difference. I got an enormous amount from touring with Pip and Stephen from Retail Oasis, not only are they exceptional hosts with so much knowledge of the industry, they are also connected with key retailers and offer exclusive opportunities to hear from the source with private store walk & talks. Thanks for the thoughtful chats whilst we clocked all those kilometres Pip and Stephen!

CAN’T MAKE THIS YEAR?

If you can’t make the Study Tour this year, we will be doing our annual Big Breakfast in February / March in Sydney and Melbourne. Where we review what we’ve learnt and you can hear from some of the local retailers that joined us on the tour. We’re yet to announce dates, but if you want to get in early – sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know.
