Lazy Millenial’s Love a Good Subscription

It’s no secret that millennials love shopping online. I’m the first to say that it probably has something to do with being lazy and a lot to do with the fact that I hate to be bothered when I shop in store – less [customer service] is more, in my opinion.

Part of my online shopping journey seems to always start on Instagram, scrolling through stories until I see a product being whored out by some insta “influencer” and boom somehow, I’m entering my credit card details and justifying the purchase.

Continuing on my journey of laziness comes my new love of personalised subscriptions aka set and forget. There’s definitely something satisfying about signing up and making big plans in your head…that never happen.

Nevertheless, here are some personalised subscription services we’re loving:

THE FARMER’S DOG SUBSCRIPTION

First up is The Farmer’s Dog; a vet-designed, personalised, portion and calorie controlled, eco-friendly dog food service – What a mouthful! And to top it off, it’s tested on humans! With reviews from the likes of Fast Company, Vogue & Forbes, this US based subscription is sure to shake up the pet food industry.

MY VITAMIN PACKS SUBSCRIPTION

Here’s one I’m already on board with – My Vitamin Packs. This direct to consumer subscription service creates personalised vitamins packs based on an online survey. Each box comes with your name on it and inside are daily packs with a little description. They have vitamins to target every need – diet/weight-loss, gut health, vitamins specifically for athletes, immunity boosting vitamins, vitamins to assist with conceiving, pre & post-natal vitamins…the list goes on!

FUNCTION OF BEAUTY SUBSCRIPTION

Now, this one is a game-changer! Meet Function of Beauty. Just like My Vitamin Packs, you take a survey about your hair, what your needs/wants are and what colour and fragrance you’d like your shampoo & conditioner to be – you can even name the bottles.
It’s important to note that Function of Beauty is Paraben and sulphate free, cruelty free and 100% vegan friendly – plus they have a sustainable focus business…does it get any better?

GIFT BOX SUBSCRIPTION

If there’s one thing you can count on each month, ladies, it’s getting your period. And to normalise something that is actually NORMAL, I’m including this brilliant social enterprise, Gift Box. Their one for one scheme means when you purchase a subscription box of organic tampons (with free home delivery), the Gift Box will then donate a box of tampons to women who are homeless, living in shelters or refuges or are escaping domestic violence or human trafficking.

PANDA CRATE SUBSCRIPTION

To all the parents out there searching for educational children’s toys, here is one worth taking a look at – KiwiCo has come up with Panda Crate. It’s a subscription box with educational & developmentally appropriate toys and games for babies and toddlers from newborn to 2 years.

NUMIDAN SUBSCRIPTION

And finally, if you’ve had a baby recently, you’ll already know how often you end up at the shops looking for the next size up every couple of weeks/months – so Numidan has come up with a sustainable and eco-friendly solution. You simply pay a monthly subscription fee for a set of clothes which you can return and get new sizes delivered to your door at any point. Not only are the addressing the pain of constantly purchasing more clothes, they’re already reducing the amount of textiles ending up in landfill each year, which by the way, is around 23kg per person!

Another area Millennials are loving is the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) model. See what our thoughts are here
